Donna Costa I love a summer romance. Right now I'm loving Emily Henry's books. That's what I read on the plane when I was travelling to Japan. And since I was just in Japan, I have added these books to my summer reading list: "Before the coffee gets cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman" by Haruki Murakam.
Donna Costa Being creative is such a rush! I imagine it's how runners feel when they refer to a "runners' high." Being in the zone, involved in the creative process, is exhilarating, freeing, joyful and spiritual.
Donna Costa Can't say I've experienced writer's block, but I recognize that sometimes the writing needs to percolate. I simply trust that the words will come when they're ready. And they do.
Donna Costa I started hearing the voice of the main character, Lucy, while I was standing amid the trees by the river. Authors are often advised to 'write what you know,' so I incorporated my knowledge of holistic health into the story. It became the backdrop for the characters and ultimately the source of conflict for Lucy.
Donna Costa I am currently working on short stories (fiction and non-fiction) and a novel that is part memoir and part fairy tale about living and caring for people with Alzheimer's.
Donna Costa I'd travel to Three Pines, Quebec, sit by the fire in the bistro, and enjoy a delicious lunch.
