Flor Ana Great question! There are definitely a few things on my summer reading list that I hope to get to before summer. First of all, I want to finish the A Darker Shade of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. I've only read the first book, but I was hooked and can't wait to continue and see what happens next. I also want to read Violent Bent Backwards Over the Grass by Lana Del Rey and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
Flor Ana The best thing about being a writer is the creative freedom to put your thoughts, stories and ideas out in the world for others to experience. Being a writer is an amazing way to connect with others and create your own worlds, poetry and beauty through words. It's a blessing, honestly.
Flor Ana Just start writing, whether physically writing or typing on your computer or phone -- or even saying things into a voice memos app. To be a good writer, you also have to be a reader. Reading will help you to expand your vocabulary and learn more about a variety of different things. Do not be afraid to ask others for their thoughts on your writings. If it's positive, it will encourage you to write more, and if it's not so positive, it will help you become a better writer.
Flor Ana I deal with writer's block by taking a little break from writing. Sometimes, I'll go on Pinterest. My feed is made up of vocabulary, things of interest and prompts, so sometimes, I can find inspiration there. Writing, in my opinion, is something that should, for the most part, flow naturally. When I experience writer's block, getting away from the writing is how I can best come back to it and make it better and expand on those ideas.
Flor Ana I began jotting down the poems in Perspective (and other poems) when I was 19 (three years ago!) and just kept them all -- in my phone, computer, in journals. I had a love for writing poetry and decided I could publish and share them with the world. Originally, I reached out to publication houses, but not hearing back, especially with the commencement of the pandemic, I decided to self-publish and Amazon's team was great. The book has only been out a few days right now, but I have high hopes that many people will enjoy it once they learn about it and read it.
Flor Ana I get inspiration to write for everything. Everywhere you look there is inspiration for anything you want to do, you just have to see it that way. A lot of my inspiration comes from nature and my own personal experiences.
