I don't consider myself a successful writer so I really don't feel qualified to give advice, but if I had to, I would say read as much as you write. Don't start writing to get rich, or even make a living, just write if you feel the need to. Write to express yourself or share your thoughts and feelings and if people enjoy reading what you write, well then that's great.

There are many different things that might inspire me, and they change from day to day. I find the beauty of nature most inspiring. And the goodness that can still be found in the world around us if we look closely enough. Then again sometimes I'm inspired by the darkness as well as the light...

Since my book is a collection of poetry, it wasn't really just one idea, but a multitude of ideas that formed over a period of time. A lot of memories and reflections, lessons, and personal growth. Some heartache and pain, then some moments of pure joy, all those pieces which come together to form the mosaic of life.
