Eric W. Smith I enjoy browsing through the online archives of old books and newspapers, and it occurred to me that some kind of sampler of the most interesting stuff I'd found might be appealing - and could also bring attention to some really worthwhile books that deserved to be remembered.
Eric W. Smith I'm working on another collection of old, public domain material, this time mostly from 19th century newspapers, which are much more enjoyable and relaxing to read than current newspapers. I'm also writing a fictional book about money, which has always fascinated me, probably because I've never had enough of it.
Eric W. Smith Inspiration isn't really a problem - it's everywhere, and comes without asking. Eric W. Smith Learn to deal with rejection. Teach yourself to find satisfaction in the idea of posthumous fame.
Eric W. Smith Self-employment, and the powerfully exhilarating fantasy that you have something valuable to say to the world.
Eric W. Smith Depression and misery. Eventually, after a sufficient amount of self-laceration, I'll get distracted for a moment and something worthwhile will pop into my head and I'll start typing. A cautionary note, though: In my experience sufficient self-laceration can take anywhere from a few minutes to a decade.
