Pitching me softballs? I already started it. At the end of Book 4, I’ve included the prologue of the first book of the series. “Mother of Trees” is my working title for Book 1.

Biggest mystery in my life is how God hasn’t given me up. But that’s a book I don’t see myself writing. At least not directly.
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Honestly, for me, writing is it’s own reward. Unfortunately, I find I have to remind myself of that... more often than seems reasonable. That epiphany is elusive when your only writing happens while you’re placing the mortar that holds the stones of your real life.

Write. Find someone you know will call you out on bad stuff. You’ll never grow with feedback that doesn’t make you think.

A little background - I was going through a low point in my career as an engineer, and thinking about lateral moves. Coincidentally, my buddy, Rafael Rios, had recently retired and written a book. I’ve always loved fantasy, and had buried a passion to write waaaaay back in high school (some 30 years before). Rafael’s book rekindled that flame.
Coming back from my father-in-law’s ranch in Mission, I spent the 5-hr drive thinking backwards from an idea for an ending, to the beginning of a story, to see if the pieces would “hold water.” I decided they would. That was probably Easter of 2019. I spent about a year learning to write (that sounds silly... let’s say learning not to sound like a complete idiot) and sketching out my ideas. I found a wonderful editor, through I am going to dub her my writing Yoda.
And I created four books that I’m now editing and releasing to the wild.
