I find it best not to force the matter. I will walk away from the keyboard and do something else. You'd be amazed how often breakthrough inspiration can occur when you least expect it. I'm blessed to live on a farm so I can walk out my door and be surrounded by nature. Sometimes I'll see something such as a bird or animal interaction, a particularly beautiful flower, or even a cloud formation and it will trigger my next approach to my story. Bottom line: get away alone in nature if you can.
