I was going to say Middle Earth, but I'd probably get killed by the first Orc I see, so gonna pass on that one. It would be cool to go to the Oasis from Ready Player 1 and 2.

Anything by Michael Connolly, Andy Weir, or Hugh Howey. I'll also search out outdoor adventure books and trail thru-hiking memoirs.

Well, I used to drink, but I don't do that anymore. The uninspired answer is I just don't write until the block is gone.

There is no set formula for this. Something will visually or audibly stimulate me and I'll think "What if this happened?" or "What if these characters were in that situation?" I'll quickly jot it down on a special list I have on my phone. Most of those ideas never make it into story form, but some do.

I'm currently working on two projects.
Finn's Decent is a follow up to Sawyer's Run and will feature Sawyer's Golden Retriever brother, Finn.
A Deadly Walk in the Woods is a non-fictional book I am working on about an unsolved murder that happened on the Appalachian Trail in 2011.

This most important thing I've learned so far is to listen to your editor. It's a difficult thing to do. You get pregnant with an idea and then you carry the baby that is your book to term. You go through all the pain and joy of the labor to birth that baby book and then you have to give it up to your editor. That doesn't mean you give over all control. It's more like you both raise the baby book until it's ready to go out into the published world.

I wish I knew because I'm not really a full time writer. I only write in my spare time because I still do a "real" job to pay the bills. I'd love to be able to make a living at writing though because nothing beats being in a fantasy world of writing.

Sawyer's Run was inspired by a real life ranger I met on the Appalachian Trail. In real life he was not nearly as bad a character as I made him, but he was still a dick. If you want to read about that incident, see my blog post about it below.

Lee went back in time and had to relive life with his two ex-wives. He decided time travel was not for him.
