Everleigh Miles At the moment, I would go to the Fourth World, because whilst I am writing, I get a bit obsessed about the world I am creating. I suspect, however, I would not survive there long!
Everleigh Miles Writer's blocks are the windows writing offers to keep your real life under control. I clean whenever I get stumped. Another way to push through it is just to keep writing. It doesn't matter if it's not useful in the end, and you end up culling it. Once you have writing on a page, it's malleable.
Everleigh Miles You're never bored - you're always writing something in your head.
Everleigh Miles There is no right or wrong way to write. Don't worry about the theory. Write something you'd enjoy reading. Just start.
Everleigh Miles I am currently writing the third book of a trilogy (I hope, sometimes there's enough material for another book, or another idea occurs, and it ends up expanding, as The Fourth World Series did, which was originally intended to be 3 books and ended up as 6!)

At the moment, it is called The Dark Crown trilogy, and it's about the Tratorym people (introduced in book 6 of The Fourth World Series), who were also a colony world abandoned by the home worlds. It explores deception, manipulation, and lies within relationships, and is a bit different to my previous story as it involves three people.
Everleigh Miles Writing is an opportunity to explore real issues in an unreal frame, and also to build on your own reading experiences.

I have been reading a lot of hot alien romances over the last couple of years (guilty pleasure lol), but being a Sci Fi and Fantasy fan, I often find the storyline a bit under-explored, so the Fourth World started as my way to combine hot aliens with a more storyline based framework.

*** Spoiler Alert ***

Some of the issues I try to include in my books are fertility issues, pregnancy loss, gender roles, bodily rights, and depression.

I also like to delve into how my characters are feeling as a result of actions taken, or events that occur around them, and how their relationships change and evolve around those occurrences.
Everleigh Miles The Whisper of War started when I was in hospital after an accident. When you're in hospital, it's a very powerless and humbling experience. I had my laptop, so to distract myself, I started a story about a very empowered person.
