Getting to "live" in your world. Watching the story unfold in a direction you didn't "see" coming is fascinating to me.

I just finished the first draft of the second book in the series (5/1/2021); working title Pieces of Freedom.
I'll start my edits next week, then out to beta readers, followed by the back and forth with me editors.

The original idea has been around for a while (1984ish). I loved the fantasy portal genre (start in a world, end up in a different one). Almost everything written at that time were about "poofing" from earth to another world. I got to thinking about what would happen if you went from one fantasy world to another.
Wrote out the first chapter and then life changed. Submitted a few short stories, each rejected. I let that get to me...and time constraints...and the story sat in a box for a few decades.
Little of the original chapter made the actual novel. The basic foundation did remain.
