Gordon Mott I've always been interested in the idea of someone disappearing, being presumed dead, then reappearing. In my most recent book, "The Angels of Klaipeda," George experiences just that manifestation when he's taken hostage in the middle east.

For him, time almost stands still, for his family, life goes on without him. So, what happens when he reappears?
Gordon Mott I like telling stories that haven't been told before or haven't been told from a particular perspective. I also like it when the unlikely triumph. In my first novel, part of the storyline dealt with the struggle for Lithuanian independence and the days immediately following the collapse of the Soviet Union. That history is rarely explored by foreign authors and reflects unlikely triumph over adversity.

So, I would say that the best thing about being a writer is taking readers to places they normally wouldn't go and allowing them to see through the eyes of unlikely protagonists.
Gordon Mott Thanks for your question. I was surprised by the success of Lithuanian Lullaby. It seemed to strike a chord with many readers. I am working on a sequel, which will continue one of the three storylines. It'll be written as a new story, but if you've read Lithuanian Lullaby, some of the characters and their backgrounds will be familiar. The book will be set in Klaipeda, Lebanon & London and will open in 1997, immediately following the timeline of the Lullaby.
