I'm working on my Mallory series about a man with so many character flaws he would be dangerous if he weren't also so inept. He pursues the wrong woman in all the wrong ways, reluctantly becomes friends with the young Black neighbor he secretly feels superior to, exacerbates the chaos of the holiday party sponsored by his Employee Cheer Committee and seeks redemption from his past cruelty to a pet by stealing a cat.

Sometimes fictional worlds and characters can move people in ways that speeches and policies and laws cannot. I think most writers are trying to sneak in, aiming for a direct capture of the imaginations, and the hearts, of the readers, while also maybe learning a little about themselves in the process.
