So, I'm going to answer this for my current book in progress, because it's a much funnier response. In short, the answer is Twilight.
My girlfriend in I were talking about her Twilight phase and just different things about the book that, looking back, were kind of odd choices. The one that stuck out to me the most was the fact that one of the characters, Jasper I believe was a vampire who fought as a Confederate soldier in the Civil War and the fact that this is more or less just glossed over because "oh, he's one of the good guys". In response, I decided to write a story in which Confederate vampires are, more realistically, not the good guys.
