We were at a dinner party and I said I always fancied being a spy. My husband said I'd make a better assassin. We laughed, everyone else looked shocked and Tinker, Tailor, Schoolmum, Spy was born.

A few things! I've just pitched a few new ideas to my agent and there's a few things now in development. A comedy poetry anthology which I mainly write for fun and a bit of a break between books, and a new novel which I started in lockdown, gave up on for a bit, and am now back to writing.

Edit, read and take advice from other people who know what they're talking about - be it other writers, an agent, or a publisher. Do your research. Befriend other writers. Be part of a community - or build one. Acknowledge it takes a village but be proud of what you achieve. Edit. Edit. Edit.

As I'm one of the judges for the unpublished Comedy Women in Print Prize this year a lot of my summer will be spent reading manuscripts to decide the shortlist and eventual winner! And I'll probably read a fair few of the published longlist too, once they are announced. Aside from that, I have a stack of books to get through, including Daisy Tate's A Bicycle Built for Sue and Libby Page's 24-Hour Cafe.
