T.K. Johnson Beautiful summer days inspire ideas, but hearing from readers about what they thought of the books is my greatest motivation.
T.K. Johnson For my upcoming book, Delric, the idea to write it came from the notion that history doesn’t always get recorded correctly. We know from the Loraillvon trilogy that Delric was the first dragon rider, but he left the dragon ‘for love.’ It also stems from the idea that our heroes sometimes fail.
T.K. Johnson I’m currently working on a prequel to the Loraillvon trilogy. The working title is Delric - based on the first dragon rider.
T.K. Johnson The best thing about being a writer is that I have the opportunity to invite others into this world, to meet the characters, to experience the adventure.
T.K. Johnson I used to tell myself I was a “mood writer,” but that’s a load of crap. It was an excuse for avoiding the pages when I faced writer’s block. The best ways to overcome writer’s block is: (1) block all social media from access (2) try writing from a different character’s perspective (3) write a scene or conversation that really excites me - even if it doesn’t have to do with the same particular story or fit in the chapter sequence.
T.K. Johnson Is it possible to choose only one fictional world to visit? My first choice would be Narnia. I grew up reading about it as a child and it always seemed the most breath taking world! I would want to go horseback riding through the forest, dine at Cair Paraval, and sail on a summer’s day to the Lone Islands.
