Paula Stone Williams I did not set out to write a memoir, but so many of the six million people who have viewed my TED Talks have told me that they wanted to read my story. Writing a memoir is not for the faint of heart. You have to go to the places you don't want to go, but if you're willing to be transparent, your story can make a difference in the lives of others.
Paula Stone Williams I tend to write best late in the evening. I wrote my entire doctoral thesis between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. I know that is unusual, but I love writing when there are no distractions.

Paula Stone Williams I was well known in the evangelical world, so I knew when I transitioned that I would not be able to disappear into the night. Embedded in my identity were responsibilities. To be able to write about your experience, and to know that what you write is for the greater good, is incredibly satisfying.
Paula Stone Williams The only way I know to deal with writer's block is to push through it. When I was writing my memoir, I had a few weeks when most everything I had written was thrown out later. But I kept writing anyway, and a few of those lines made their way into the book.
