Incarcerata IV, a prison world. It would be nice to be challenged and at the same time have some of the pioneering spirit.

Too busy with writing projects though I do fit in the odd indie author here and there. I don't know them until I read them :)

No mysteries in my life, I'm pretty much an open book.

I walk away and come back later. I think about the novel's and the world's and characters and cultures very often. Something will click. Sometimes it helps to just run with an idea, nothing is permanent, you can always change it for the better, or do more of the outline, not related to the chapter you are working on right now.

I find it as exciting as reading, and it's very satisfying when someone enjoys what you've done.

Compare your book with others in the same genre so far as format, eye-catching appeal, editing and prose goes, you want to match them as best you can.
Stick to 1st person or 3rd person, don't go back and forth.
One Point of View (POV) per chapter only or people get confused (and I clearly mark who the POV will be each chapter).
If you can't afford writing services then trade services with other writers. You work on theirs, they work on yours. This can work for beta reading and reviews as well.
Study the general outline of what expectations there are in stories and compare your story to those expectations. They don't have to match exactly, but it doesn't hurt to know them.
Remember you are writing to a specific genre, you can't please everyone, so don't take it to heart if someone doesn't like what you've done.
There are writing communities, like on twitter, people can be very helpful.

Third novel of the Incarcerated Series. I'm about 10 chapters in... I typically expect to go to between 40 and 50 chapters, and I stall sometimes, so I try not to predict how far along I'll be. I have people waiting though, so I try to visit it regularly.

Whevener life gives me the opportunity I try to click on the writing program, just to bring it up. Sometimes I don't write anything, but I don't want to ignore it, so it forces me to at least SEE if I'm motivated. Often enough I am.

I'm a pantser so I only need a very small idea to get me to take off in a particular direction. I got the idea of Rusty from people asking questions about the first book. If people have questions, I like to answer them in future novels, if it still makes for a good story. In this case it did. :)
