Amanda Gibson So, I realized the answer to this just recently. The hardest and the most wonderful thing about being a writer is keeping a story in your head for years and then having it suddenly be out in the world. At that point, it's no longer entirely yours, and a little piece of it belongs to the hundreds of people who experience it while reading. They're free to interpret your words according to their perspective, and hearing about their thoughts and feelings about my novel has been the best thing about being a writer, thus far.
Amanda Gibson I usually force myself to write about something else entirely. Once the words start flowing, the block is broken, and I can get back to the task at hand.
Amanda Gibson I was inspired to write the book I am currently working on while I was kayaking alone in the Gulf of Mexico. I was surrounded by a pod of dolphins feeding on sea catfish. For some reason, it reminded me of a Hemingway short story about a couple on safari in Africa. Thus, my work in progress was born.
