I lived a life of shame, secrets and silence and recently published part one of my two-part memoir. Part One: A Childhood Tragedy Under A Mother's Watch 1975-1982 (Published September 2021) and Part Two: A Life Given To Me 1982-2019 (Release Date Summer 2022)

Catherine Mellen My advise for aspiring writers would be to never give up, do what you love and never rush a book you are writing. Like wine, diamonds and cheese, it gets better with time.
Catherine Mellen I wrote my first poem at age fourteen. And from there, my inspiration to write became an everyday routine. I had secrets that were hard to talk of, but deep down, I wanted to be heard. In the back of my mind, I knew should I die young, my secrets were written in journals and poetry, so I knew I would not die a secret.
Nowadays, I use my courage, strength and the power to be heard as my inspiration to shatter my silence on childhood trauma and family secrets.
