A couple of things, if they're anything like me. One, get out of your own head, write and publish that thing you've been working on. The reception will be the reception, take the valid criticisms and continue to work on your craft to become better. Two, read. Best way to inspire yourself to write is to read, read high literature, read genre fiction, read comics, read blogs, anything you like, but stories can help spark ideas for your work.

I don't deal with it well. I took several years off from writing, but feel like I have a bit of a schedule going now. Usually, I need to go back to one of the sources that inspired me to want to write to begin with and then I get the itch to write and it sparks ideas and I move on from there.

A bunch. Have a 1 year old though and my time to read has decreased for the time being, so have been trying to listen to more audio books. I'd like to try to read another Paul Tremblay book though, probably finally get around to reading Disappearance at Devil's Rock. Then The Deep by Alma Katsu and then weirdly enough, also The Deep by Nick Cutter!

It was a combination of things, really. I love the Noir genre a lot. The horror genre has been my favorite since I read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark back in grade school. One character is inspired by female characters from Richard Laymon. Just sort of combined all these different loves and elements to start Haunted: A Noir Series!
