I try to listen to what the right thing to do is at the right time. If it's time to write, I write, if it's not-- I do whatever feels like it calls me. Things ebb and flow. I think it's important to listen to that.

I love how absorbing the process is. For the time I am allowing the stream of expression to come through me, it's like nothing else exists, not even time; and yet-- it feels so absolutely "in the moment".

I'm creating a second book---and with the same protagonist. I've realized she is a kind of inlet for me to write in a style that is "loosely-based-on" aspects of myself. Like many women, I somehow learned it was much easier to help others navigate their life than to analyze my own-- on my own-- so through this character, I can both learn about myself and also hopefully offer relatable content to other readers.

I hear most writers make a very dedicated time and space, but for me, I work best on the go. I'd often write in my car, on the beach, walking out the door, standing up in my kitchen, or at strange hours in the middle of the night--- and in outpouring floods.

To be honest, I resisted the idea of boldly sharing a story like this for quite some time, but the title of the book continued to come to me-- until, at some point, I couldn't refuse to heed the call. I knew I had to write a story about a woman's journey with eating and her body from the perspective of an Italian-American, first-generation woman who grew up around a food-centric family.
