I spend much of my time in retirement in the care & feeding of our five different Facebook groups related to TRICARE. We answer difficult questions from beneficiaries from all over the world. Despite my years in the Navy, and as a contractor building tactical systems, and later as a missionary -- I consider my work with TRICARE users to be one of my greatest accomplishments. I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing we can help the military community in this way.

Like so many others in the military community, I had only a vague understanding of my TRICARE benefits and how to use them, especially when in unfamiliar settings. In 2017, we began a nomadic lifestyle around the Asia-Pacific, and I realized that sooner or later we would have a family emergency. I had better know how to use TRICARE in order to provide for my family.
This began a period of intense research (living in Japan at the time); I started several social media groups, we supported one another, the questions got harder, and my knowledge continued to grow. I eventually realized that Facebook is not the place to organize a complex body of knowledge, and in 2019, I put all my information into outline form and realized it was the beginning a book. When COVID struck in 2020, we were confined to a small town in Thailand and that's when I committed myself to writing "TRICARE Around the World." The first edition was published in 2021; a few months later, we returned to the States, my understanding continued to grow, and I released the Second Edition early 2022.
