Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
J.A. Taylor Sometimes I think of Tommy Hargrove's blood, sticky and wet—red swirls spiraled on the white carpet like a magic candy cane. I like candy canes.

If you knew that no book you write would ever be published, would you still write?
J.A. Taylor I think I would still write, but probably spare myself the pain of putting it in "book" form.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
J.A. Taylor It is actually a collection of ideas spanning the past year, compiled into one work.

How do you get inspired to write?
J.A. Taylor By observing the everyday world and contemplating the underlying reasons things occur. Humankind spawns endless stories.

What are you currently working on?
J.A. Taylor My fantasy short story collection - hopefully available in 2021!

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
J.A. Taylor Get a writing cohort. Like all of us, you have weaknesses. A regular group that can help expose and mitigate your weaknesses is essential for any writer so that your strengths will shine. This is why I created SFS Writers Collective. The folks on there have helped me immensely and helped curb my many mistakes.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
J.A. Taylor Best? How about scariest? Knowing the dark thoughts in your mind are now available for anyone on the planet to read. That's the stuff of horror.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
J.A. Taylor I've experimented writing with artificial intelligence. Though it has a tendency to take a story and "run with it" and it isn't usually great at cohesiveness or following a plot structure, it is by far the best tool I've ever used to eradicate writer's block. Now that I have been granted access to GPT-3, this is something I'm hoping to sfswriters.com. If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
J.A. Taylor I would travel over The Horizon, like Evelyn in Galactic Rejuvenation and play with my brother who was never born.
