Still bleary-eyed and resentful to be awake (not being a morning person), you stumble into the kitchen to discover that you are out of coffee. If that wasn't bad enough, the snow outside has turned to freezing drizzle which will slow—but certainly not prevent—a Starbucks run.

Update: This answer will change regularly for many people, I imagine.
A few days out from the "The Turbulence Series" launch, I am working on two other projects. The first, set in Kansas City (my hometown), is 2/3 completed. It's an insta-love story that has my MCs challenged by opposing belief systems and the FMC's trauma surrounding the death of her brother. I'm hoping for a June 2022 publication date for this one if I can get it completed!
The second is a dark MMF romance that takes place in Puerto Rico. At the moment, I am only 20,000 words into the story but my three MCs are quite insistent (and the reason why the KC work keeps getting pushed aside... along with publishing "Alive Day" and "The Turbulence Series.")
Previous answer: I am currently finalizing the "Turbulence Series," due out in October 2021. Part One is entitled "Entanglement" and Part Two, the conclusion, is "Tranquility."
The story revolves around three friends, Brit Delany (American photojournalist), Sean Madden, and Jasper Dunne (both Irishmen); the setting is Cork, Ireland. It's a steamy contemporary romance intended for mature audiences as it contains themes of trauma addressing child abuse and sexual assault.

And don't think that someone else's writing journey needs to be yours. Everyone's journey is different. If it works for you, then it's working.

I've been writing ever since elementary school. We were given an assignment in class to create our own world, and I was hooked.
In high school, I did share my stories with an author. Her feedback was that I have natural talent, but I should write about what I know. So I did. I changed the themes and learned how to research. I write contemporary (I had been writing more in the historical genre). I draw from experience, but my characters provide their own.
Something as simple as a song lyric, a look from a stranger, or a swerve of a vehicle in traffic can set off an avalanche of ideas. I'm a born daydreamer...
