Jennifer Jenkins Nothing as yet but I am doing some very curiosity-fuelled looking at several places in my village and a new idea is brewing...
Jennifer Jenkins For me, it was like this story gripped me. It wanted to be told. The characters got under my skin. I could imagine the way they looked, the way they talked. But visiting the village itself was a real trigger.
Jennifer Jenkins I vaguely remember watching a TV programme that included Eyam whilst at primary school. The TV was wheeled into the hall and I recall the boundary stone in the village of Eyam in Derbyshire with its holes filled with vinegar. Then, as a primary school teacher, I taught about the plague in history to my Y2 classes; the disaster that fell upon the village of Eyam when plague arrived in 1665. The story fascinated me. I visited the village several times and then began conducting proper research, lasting over a year. I was ready to begin writing last February and then the pandemic hit. I was furloughed from my job and it gave me the time to being writing the story.
