I'm advocating on behalf of Afghan interpreters (17,000 +) in the backlog for visas to the US. They will be slaughtered by the Taliban if we do not evacuate them.

I hung an Iraqi flag on my office wall signed by dozens of Iraqis who wanted to thank me leading the effort to get them to the US. Each day I would look at that flag and think about those who didn't make it, but also those who did and the vital contributions they continue to make for our national security. (The photos in the book include a shot of the Iraqi flag in my office.)

I lived through the horror of Baghdad in 2006-2007 and saw my Iraqi colleagues killed. I think we can do better as a country to protect our most vital partners in conflict zones. I wrote the book to advocate on behalf of Iraqi interpreters, Afghan interpreters and others who get targeted for working alongside Americans.
