My inspiration to write comes from Indo-Caribbean people; whether it's my family, the community, my personal experiences, our culture, our history. I'm inspired by who we are, where we've come from, and where we're going. Growing up, I never found books with Indo-Caribbean characters in my school library, or book fairs. I craved it. The work was out there, but I didn't have the means to find it. Once I got ahold of Indo-Caribbean/Caribbean literature I never wanted to let go. I'm inspired by all the authors before me, and am grateful to have a place next to them on shelves.
