I am very fortunate to have quite a bit of time on my hands but still, it takes hardly anything to provide me with a distraction. Lately I've given up trying to pressure myself into sitting down for committed periods of time and just grab five minutes when I'm passing my computer. I'm finding that I actually write more. I suspect everyone works well in their own particular way, so it's just a case of finding what works best for you.

I’m currently working on a book of short ghost stories. My inspiration comes from local tales and areas that are known to have strange associations attached to them. I’m also a keen amateur photographer and spend a great deal of time outdoors in the English countryside, which I always find inspirational and evocative.
I’m aiming for a winter release so watch this space - although I’d better get writing!

I’m fascinated by people’s real ghost encounters. I love that most of the time there is no obvious history or reasoning, simply a moment experienced.
The idea for “A Dissonance” was borne out of a simple story told by a builder in York who was renovating an old pub. He found himself face to face with a teenage girl who was sitting on the stairs watching him. Despite thinking she looked somehow out of place there was no fear. She appeared grounded in his time, real. He was simply perplexed as to why and what she was doing there. Then she disappeared, and that was that.
In conjunction, I love a quiet haunting. In old houses in the UK many people have an affection for their bumps in the night and footsteps in the hall, in much the same way as they hold an affection for the family cat. They name it, share their home with it and then generally leave it to go about its own business.
I wanted to tell a ghost story that gives the reader everything from the outset, so that they can be witness to one of these quiet hauntings, able to watch as the harmony of the house implodes irrecoverably.
