G.E. Newbegin For one, I wanted to write a fast-paced story a la Matthew Reilly. He's a great writer, and I hope my little story does it justice.

The main idea, though, was initially a horror story. However, as I developed it more, it shifted more and more towards action-adventure, which I felt suited the overall story. Inspiration? Clive Barker and Brian Lumley. I like to hope the story stands on it's own though.
G.E. Newbegin Right now - a sci-fi novel! It's probably got a ways to go, but I'm a few chapters in. Will also develop some short stories in the world of Pyramidion to flesh things out a little - keep an eye on www.genewbegin.com, where they'll be offered for free!
G.E. Newbegin Don't stop to edit, re-read, or breathe until you've got that story down on paper. You can edit and fix things up later - but you can't edit or fix a book you never finish writing.
G.E. Newbegin I've found writer's block to be caused by one of two things - a lack of motivation, or a lack of understanding as to the direction the story needs to take...

Given my day job pays the bills, I don't stress if it's a lack of motivation (although perhaps I should - I could write more!), but if it's the other, I generally do some brainstorming. Once the idea starts to take form and solidify, the words start to flow once again...

That said - diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks!
