Hi Colin. Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement. And all the best with your new book as well.

I've never experienced it, so I don't know. (apologies to those who do!)
I guess it's because I only write when I'm inspired and in the groove. I'm not working to anyone else's deadlines or requirements, so those pressures aren't there.

Being able to dream something up, create it, then improved the hell out of it until it makes readers laugh, cry, scream, dream etc ...
Oh, and the flexibility. I can write almost anywhere, anytime, and no 9 to 5!

I still consider myself to be 'aspiring', so I'll leave the advice to others :)

'Convergence on the 42nd Parallel' is finished and I'm currently (as of June 2021) preparing it for production and marketing. It's due to be published on 21 October 2021.
The first draft of my second book - an aviation / medical novella titled 'O2' - is nearly complete.
Book 3 - a thriller set on the sea and coastline of Tasmania - is at the planning and early research stage.
Book 4 - a novel about the inside workings of the Christian 'super-church' business is at the early concept stage.
Book 5 ? who knows! :)

Inspiration comes and goes. When I'm inspired, the feeling is right there and I'm champing at the bit to get on with it.
But I've also learned not to 'push' it when the inspiration level feels low. I do other things and never force myself to write. I write for enjoyment, primarily, and I never want to treat it like a 'job'.

It happened twenty years ago during a conversation with a work colleague. We were looking out at the river - right at the spot where the book reaches its climatic ending. Ever since then, the story and characters have been bubbling away in my head (and even in my dreams!). In 2019 I couldn't hold it back any longer and started to plot it out and write.
