Joel, your website states that the Spiral Wars is a Trilogy, but Kantovan vault obviously sets up for further books are there more books coming?
Joel Shepherd Hi Tim, the website is incorrect (I'll have to change that) there are plenty more Spiral Wars books coming. It's a large world, it deserves a large series.

Joel, Excellent job on the Kresnov series! Nice to see a strong female character in SF. I started my SF with the 'oldies' like Clifford Simak and Jo Clayton with a solid dash of Frank Herbert. It was nice to see you come back to Cassandra K after the original trilogy was complete BTW. The Spiral Wars is very interestimg with lots of depth. Have you considered writing a series on the Krim Wars with humanity?
Joel Shepherd Hi Gary. I thought about it, but the Krim Wars are just too depressing. They were five hundred years of horror, that only started looking up in the last two hundred... but even then, humanity had become drastically less interesting to write about because all the diversity and political stuff that I like disappeared after Earth was lost. I like the period I'm writing in now, because things have become complicated and messy again, just how I like it.

I just read the first 2 books in 2 days. Any idea when the third book will be released? I am loving the Drysine Queen character. The AI wars and the ancient history are right up my alley. I love the uncovering of ancient secrets in my scifi. Great series so far.
Joel Shepherd Hi John, Kantovan Vault is out right now. Yes, Styx is a favourite of mine too, and I've plenty of developments planned for her ahead.

When will you continue the Kresnov books? It is the best series I have ever read which says a lot for me since I began reading science fiction in 1962. -tnx
Joel Shepherd Hi Robert. That's high praise, thanks! At some point I might continue with Sandy's adventures, but six books is a lot for now, and I've plenty of other stuff I want to do in the meantime.

I am very pleased to have found a new author to follow Joel. Your new series is very well made and you found a great narrator for the audio version. Thanks for that! Please work hard on your next book, i can't wait! :) Do you map out the personalities before you write the book or do they just emerge during the writing process?
Joel Shepherd Hi there, sorry for the (long) delay, I'm not on Goodreads often. I definitely map out the personalities before I start writing. But when I start a new series, I only know basic stuff about each character, and the details then emerge as I write. The fun thing about being further into the series as I am now is that the characters are becoming so much more familiar, I can start exploring new facets to their personality.

Hi when book Drysine Legacy The Spiral Wars will be available on audiobook ?? I like very much book 1 in series beginning was ok but from there with every hour book was better and better did try to send you message through http://joelshepherd.com/?page_id=680 but got error
Joel Shepherd Hi Krzysztof, thanks for the warning on the website, I'll look into it. Drysine Legacy will be out in audio book about the end of March, I think. John Lee will be narrating, of course.

Thank you for going the self publishing route! I can finally get the books in Germany when you publish them plus they are so much more affordable! Now, do you have a name and a publishing date for the third book in your "The Spiral Wars" series?
Joel Shepherd Hi Roland! Sorry this is so late, but I don't visit Goodreads that often. I don't have a name or a date, but I am making good progress and I've got some great new ideas. My plan is to have it out by June... although plans can change, obviously. Good to see readers in Germany -- and keep an eye out for my Cassandra Kresnov series, the first three are being published in Germany from about May next year.

I just started on "Originator". So far so good. Any idea on when the paperback version of "Renegade" will be available in the US?
Joel Shepherd No idea, sorry! Ebooks are where the business is at the moment in this kind of SF, but I might do a paperback later if there's demand.

Will RENEGADE be coming to iBooks? I've loved each of your books that I've read so far (I have a special soft spot for Cassandra and her friends and city), but I don't do business with Amazon (because of their warehouse labor practices; had been customer since year one— still have my Groucho mousepad). Is there any hope that I'll be able to read RENEGADE and later books in your new series?
Joel Shepherd Hey Warren, sorry, Amazon is the only distributor with whom authors can make money. If iBooks were able to change that I'd consider it, but a writer's got to make a living. So the Spiral Wars will be with Amazon exclusively for the foreseeable future.

Just started reading you latest book. A few chapters in and character development seems a little slow to me. I loved the android books you have written and wanted to know if this new book is as high tech or does it go off in a different direction? I liked how much military scifi and tech were in your Kresnov books and was curious if this followed along those lines?
Joel Shepherd Hi James. Yes, very much so. Keep reading! It's a big world, it needs some introduction or what comes next won't make sense.

Joel Shepherd Oh I don't plan anything. I just write and see what happens. But six is plenty for now, I think.

Joel Shepherd Hi! Sorry for the late reply, haven't been here for a while... I'm working on a new SF series called The Spiral Wars -- The first book is RENEGADE, and it's on Amazon now.

I don't currently plan anything else with Sasha, but who knows?
