Where do you get find inspiration for your writing?

Don Vodka I am always looking for an exciting, fun sci fi movie to watch, such as an Independence Day, War of the Worlds, or Back to the Future. Since I've watched all those movies already, I just sit down and write a book that reads like the movie I'm searching for.
Of course, Area 51 is in my backyard, so I pick up a lot of ideas in the local diners and fast-food joints nearby. People love to talk about stuff that they've been warned not to talk about. And it always seems to find a way into my next book.

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Don Vodka When I asked God (aloud) for a sign and a lightning bolt hit in the ditch right near my car on the highway. I changed lanes immediately and stopped bothering Him.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

Don Vodka Earth. The way it was meant to be... peaceful and free. Full of life. Clean.

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Don Vodka I write books. I don't read many. I read and re-read my books every night in bed just to make sure there are no errors and that they make sense.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Don Vodka I don't even know what that is. My head is exploding with ideas and stories that I have to get out. I wish I had two more hands so I could type faster.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Don Vodka Breaking the rules. Haha! I write fiction and I self-publish so the rules are out the window. Hope you enjoy what I write, because I love writing.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Don Vodka Write to your strength. Don't worry about trying to fit in to any genre. Figure that out after. And don't let people tell you what to change in your books, unless they are smarter than you. If they are, of course change it. I'm lucky because hardly anyone is smarter than me. Especially here in Sunrise, where only a few people live.

What are you currently working on?

Don Vodka It's 2024 and I am working on the 13th title in the Dazzle Shelton - Alien Invasion Series. This one follows books 9 through 12, which are kind of a spin-off in that they occur in the year 2068 and feature Dazzle's 16-year-old daughter Misty. It should be out in late Feb or early March.
