C.K. Jensen I recently received a pair of earrings in the mail. No idea who sent them... easily a romance plot for a book!
C.K. Jensen Currently, I'm working on an LGBTQ+ fantasy tentatively called "The Roses." The premise is that a kingdom has been frozen in time, and a young woman, Aster, immune to malignant magic must take care of the Garden Pass, the entrance to the kingdom, where there are several humans frozen in time as stone statues. But one day, a young witch comes to ask Aster for help. Aster has to make the choice whether to stay or go, to fulfill her duty or her dreams.
C.K. Jensen Write as much as you can. Writing is practice, and thus is never wasted.
C.K. Jensen My summer is ending in a week as I go back to university, but I'm trying to finish Madeleine Miller's Circe and Kalynn Bayron's Cinderella is Dead before that! My favorite books I've read this summer were probably Steal like An Artist (Austin Kleon) and The House on the Cerulean Sea (TJ Klune).
C.K. Jensen The best part of being a writer is getting to share what you've written with others. It's the most rewarding feeling.
C.K. Jensen I change my focus! My latest WIP came about because I was stuck on one of my sci-fi novels. So I pulled up Pinterest, did some scrolling, then started brainstorming a new fantasy novel, which is coming along really well!
C.K. Jensen I've been trying really hard to work on not relying on inspiration. Inspiration isn't as reliable as everyone seems to think it is. Instead, I try to write every day, no matter how I'm feeling. Which maybe isn't what aspiring writers WANT to hear, but it's definitely what younger me NEEDED to hear.
C.K. Jensen I think I saw a writing prompt full of twisted fairy tale ideas. There was an Alice in Wonderland one, and I don't remember exactly what it was, but that was the spark for All Hail the Queen of Hearts. In fact, whenever I get stuck, I turn to writing prompts. Most of the prompts don't turn into anything, but every one in a hundred turns into a novel idea for me.
