In 2016, I took a weekend shakedown ride to a friend's house a couple of weeks before leaving on my solo, self-supported bicycle tour to Missoula, MT. My friends gave me a journal to carry to record my thoughts. I wrote every day and posted "Postcards from the road" on FB in the evenings during my trip. Feedback from my posts was so positive, and I enjoyed writing in my journal so much, I decided that this trip would be the framework for my book, a memoir.
