Mike Mollman I've always loved telling stories. Writing novels allows me to explore more deeply and meet new characters.
Mike Mollman I plot my books out, so I always know what I'm writing toward. If I can't write, it usually means that I haven't imagined the details very well. Once I figure out the specifics of the scene, the writing flows easily.
Mike Mollman You get better by doing. Remember that everyone's first draft is crap. Listen to feedback, there's no need to get defensive. But, the story is yours and yours alone, so don't change it if it feels wrong to you, regardless of the feedback. Finally, write for fun. No one knows who will explode on to the literary scene next, so write stories you like.
Mike Mollman I am currently working on book two of the Protectors of Pretanni series as well as multiple short stories. One of the drawbacks to writing in first person, is it's hard to tell what is happening at other locations, so I've started writing down those events from other characters' eyes.
Mike Mollman I was reading about Stonehenge and the many other ancient monuments in the British that stretch back thousands of years. I knew there was a story in there somewhere, so I started trying to explain their existence to myself in a fantasy setting. After selecting multiple sites that I wanted to explore, I made a map. You can't have a good fantasy story without a map.
