I usually find myself wanting to describe something that's happened to me, often in the form of a lengthy email to a friend. That worked in my favor when I decided to write the book, because half the story was already written!

I actually didn't want to write this book, and I kept trying not to. I was trying to write fiction, but the things going on in my life were crazier than fiction. Every time I sat down to write, this is what came out. When I finally gave into it, the book took shape quickly.
