25+ years of observing all the humans and circumstances around me. ALL MY ROADS (the entire Caribou Springs Series, really) is a culmination of so many influences...family, friends, strangers, movies, tv shows, MUSIC. I am fascinated by the human propensity for emotions. In any story, I almost always start with the feelings I want to explore, and then work backward...what decisions would a person have to make, what experiences would they need to have, in order to FEEL x, y, z?

I'd go to CiCi's house in Nora Roberts' SHELTER IN PLACE. My days would be spent writing near a beach-view window, and my evenings would be spent walking the shores.
