The plot of The Ruthless Gangster kinda struck to me a long, long time back. When I was 13 (though very undeveloped) I just loved the idea of a revenge story with a kidnapping trope! I thought of Ace and Allison's names too, kept that the same.

When I was younger in school, there was rumour that my went around after my crush left town (whom I never spoke to because I was too shy) that he told a few of his friends he liked me. I never got to speak with him, hence, I never truly knew if he did or did not. I wish I did before he left. Could definitely see this as a heartbreaking plot in a future book of mine!
