In the third grade I found and then lost a baby toad that I wanted to show my grandparents.
It was so devastating not knowing what happened to it, that I used to make up stories about it in my journals. To this day, I like to hope that it found its family and they lived happily ever after.

The best advice I was ever given on the subject of writer's block came from my creative writing professor in university.
During one of our workshops, she told us that writer's block only happens when you stop writing entirely. If you're stuck on a scene in your novel or screen-play try changing mediums. Write a poem or song or do writing sprints, or journaling. She explained that as long as you're writing something, you won't get writer's block.
This also encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone every once and a while, and will help you improve your craft.
What I usually do is I will write a poem or song based on a character or a scene I want to write or am currently working on. That way I'm still thinking about the world of my novel while allowing myself to step away from the scene I was stuck on. It gives me a chance to come back to my project with a clear head, and also allows me to de-stress.

I've got several writing projects on the go at the moment, and am currently doing final prep for the release of Vermin!
I also recently wrapped up a new animated series for one of my favourite childhood toy brands.

When I'm writing I like to make playlists, draw sketches, write songs and poetry, and create mood boards that are dedicated to a specific project/character.
I find doing things like this while I'm writing helps me to stay focused and motivated.

I got the idea back in high school while taking a creative writing course.
Our assignment was to write a short story and at first I didn't know where to start.
I wrote down a bunch of random scenarios and then one night while I was sleeping I had a very vivid dream about Rose and Nicholas. This dream ended up being the first chapter in book one and went from being used as short story to a novel series.

Right now I'm reading Daughter of Black Lake, A Sign of Affection, Mary Jane, a handful of poetry collections, Love Me Love Me Not, Gods of Jade and Shadow, Blood on the Tracks, Beast Boy Loves Raven and a bunch of manga and Archie comics.
I'll probably add in more as I go along. I'm always finding new things to read during the week!
