After hearing news of another horrific OD death, (from Oxy, heroin, Fentanyl - you pick) I realized that this there is a strange dichotomy in the perception of Americans regarding what methods for numbing oneself from reality are socially acceptable. What if society viewed the aforementioned hard drugs as normal, and alcohol as the scourge that was killing 50-100 thousand people per year? (PS. Alcohol is actually killing more, but most those deaths are almost always attributed to cancer, heart disease, kidney failure - the list is endless.)
