She watched the tree every day, lonely on the windswept hillside, until one day she finally found the courage to hike up to it, and sit beneath it's gnarled, reaching arms. Arms that snatched her whole and muffled her screams, until all that was left of her was a whisper on the wind, fading to nothing.

I'm finishing the Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas, but I'm also digging into Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments Series. And then I want to FINALLY read Christopher Paolini's Eragon Series and Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, because these are bestsellers and highly acclaimed, right up my alley, and I cannot believe I haven't read them yet!

(view spoiler)[Seeing I've already been to Hogwarts (I attended 4 years there) I'd love to travel to Middle Earth and visit Hobbiton for some food and beer, the elves for hiking, tree climbing, archery and drum circles, and the Riders of Rohan to do some fabulous horse riding. I'm not too fussed about visiting the dwarves. (hide spoiler)]

I used to want to tell this story of a fairy girl cast into our world from Avalon (I will still someday), but instead I decided to tell a different story, about a race of beings from a different world (much in the vein of Avalon), and settled on mermaids. But I tweaked the mermaid theme a bit and created a whole new lore. One told on land. I feel there are many good mermaid stories out there, but I wanted to see a different one, and wrote the story I wanted to read.

Pushing the limits of your imagination. Digging deep into characters and the human condition. Discovering swirling eddies of mysteries right inside my own head. Telling the story I want to hear.

Don't try to "write pretty," or tell a story you think others want to hear, but instead write the story on your heart. Tell it simply and boldly.

Book two of the Saelfen Trilogy, and I'm stewing over a dark urban fantasy based in the South.

(view spoiler)[For me, I get just as excited about writing as I do about reading. I crave the world I'm creating and want to get lost in it. As far as inspiration for story ideas, it can be anything: rainy days. Travel. Dusk. An owl swooping by at night. Dusty boxes full of old keepsakes and memories. The moon. (hide spoiler)]
