My initial response to this question is Hogwarts, because, well, magic! I would play, I would read, I would explore.
Upon further thought, though, I'd like to spend some time in Cedar Cove. I'd open bookstore that has space available for creative types to rent and do their thing. Yes, that sounds lovely!

The worst thing I can do for writer's block is to sit and stare at the page waiting for the answer to come. Instead, I either move on to a different section of the project--or a different project altogether-- or take break from writing. Going for a walk, watching a show, or even reading a book are all good distractions and mental resets for me.

I've always loved escaping into the worlds books create. As a writer, I am privileged to the one creating those worlds. What is better than that?

Just write. Get out of your head and write. I could have gotten my writing career started years ago but allowed fear to paralyze me. Now that I pushed through and self-published my novel, I'm sad I waited so long to do so. Later drafts are for perfecting, just get the story out and worry about the clean-up and publishing process later. Trust me, the only way to quiet the characters in your brain is to tell their story!

I am currently working on two projects, which is often true for me! In the nonfiction world, I'm in the final stages of publishing a book titled Faith Doesn't Erase Grief with Lake Drive Books. In the fiction world, I'm working on the sequel to The Red Couch, titled The Yellow Dress. Stay tuned!

The topics on which I'm inspired to write are unpredictable. They come from areas of passion, current events, or life experiences that demand more processing.
When writing, I am most inspired in a quite room, well-scented with my favorite wax melts, and filled with the sounds of instrumental film scores or classical music.

My most recently published novel, The Red Couch, grew out a portion of my paternal grandmother's life and her purchase of her own red couch. From there, it took on a life of its own!
The soon-to-be-published Faith Doesn't Erase Grief came to be from the repeatedly observed need that Christian grievers have to be assured that their grief is normal, does not need to be avoided, and that the pain of it can be sustained in hope. Keep your eyes open for the launch of this book!
