When I first arrived at the Glens Falls, NY newspaper in 1988, a columnist named Don Metivier had just published a collection of his columns. It was history book of sorts, chronicling the people of a small town. It always stuck with me and when I retired last year, the first thing I did was put together a collection of my columns.
