I met a man with a circumstance I couldn't shake. Something he said about someone close to him that died, struck me in a strange way. It traveled inside my head and hid in its crevices. Then one day I was running, and the idea hit me like a ton of bricks. So as soon as I got home, I wrote my thoughts down and the beginnings of Enigma Rose started to form.

My English teacher in ninth grade asked us to find an interesting picture and write a descriptive paragraph about it. I found a picture of strawberry shortcake in a magazine and wrote about it. She read it in front of the class. I knew then that I was good at something.

I am currently working on the sequel to Enigma Rose. I finished the prologue today. Here it is...
Prologue
I see you, but you don’t see me. I’d like to keep it that way for a little while longer. I’ve grown impatient, but like my dear old dad used to say, haste makes waste. So, I will back off for now, and resist those overwhelming urges that thrust me towards you.
I’ve fantasized too many times about your reaction. What will it be when I come into your view? Will your mind go back to the last time we were together and carry over to the present? Will you look at me with disgust? Or, will your mind be empty full of wonderment as if time has erased the past? Will you look at me and at least crack a smile?
I wish you had cameras following you around like a reality show that started the day you were born. Then I could see all the little events that made you who you are today. Maybe I could understand why you do the things you do. Maybe I could understand why it was so easy for you to make me love you, but then as quickly as the sun goes down, you made me…well let’s just say, my feelings have evolved.
I too have changed since our last encounter. I was fine with myself and as strong as I could be at the time. But you broke me, or at least caused the first little fracture and like a crack in a windshield, it spread throughout my entire being. But before I was completely shattered, I saw you again for the first time since and then at that moment, I had a goal, which is now my destiny. And I have no doubt that I will achieve everything I set out to do. Once I’m done, all that was wrong with the world will be right. Then, I will sleep easy, my darling, and so will you.

I love it when I write something that turns out better than I planned or thought it would be. It could be just one magnificent sentence or an entire chapter. I get a rush from it. I am energized to keep going.

I continue to write even if it's bad or has nothing to do with the book I'm writing. Only good can come from bad writing. No one has to read it, not even me, but at least I'm exercising the creative part of the brain.
