Not really been an issue for me. My challenge is usually finding the time and some peace and quiet to put pen to paper. However, once there I go with the philosophy of just getting going. Even if what I do is not a finished sentence or verse, it can always be tweaked or may trigger new ideas.

Hearing back from readers. I know I shouldn’t dwell on reviews, but in this digital, remote world a lovely comment really is very nice.
Also, as I write children’s books aimed at encouraging a healthy diet, hearing that a child has tried broccoli for the 1st time after reading my book or planted their own veg is absolutely fantastic.

Go for it - I’ve had a blast! My only word of warning will be that while the writing is my passion, that is just one aspect of publishing a book. There is SOOOOOO much to learn and do, but overall a fascinating and rewarding experience.

My next book, this time about an Onion who is fed up being an ingredient and wants to be the main part of the meal. What an Onion Wants to Be will be out shortly.
Hopefully will encourage more fussy eaters to at least try onions and broaden their horizons with different vegetables.

I’ve always loved writing but have never published anything. The COVID lockdown gave me the time, and impetus, to actually get going and follow my dream.

From a lifelong dislike of Broccoli and the resultant challenges every time a plate of broccoli comes around in a restaurant or, even worse, is already served on my plate leaving me no choice but to eat some.
While it may be too late for me to change, I wanted to help younger kids develop a different relationship with broccoli, and vegetables in general, but in a fun way.

I have read a book called The Shallows by Nicholas Carr to better understand the impact the internet and mobile devices are having on us, especially with 3 teenage kids, it is a worry. Our brains are actually being rewired and our ability to understand and retain information is diminishing - becoming more shallow!
I’ve also reread Macbeth as my daughter was doing this in school so I could help her understand it better.
I’m also reading a book called Prediction Machines to understand AI better. I feel like this will be a central technology in our lives going forward so want to be better educated.
