In 2018 I made a short comic called BARGE which was inspired by a real life mystery from near my home town. In a town bordering mine there was a long neglected industrial area by the water witch a huge empty lots slowly becoming stifled with weeds.
For years there was nothing there, but one day seemingly out of nowhere there was a suburban looking house sitting there beached on the lot and attached to a barge. Nobody I knew had any idea why it was there or why a house like that would be attached to a barge or whether it was being shipped somewhere to eventually be put onto a normal residential lot or was always destined to stay on the barge.
The house sat there moldering for (as far as I can recall) years, and then suddenly one day it was gone. I never heard any information about it, and to this day have no idea why it was there.
It seemed the perfect set up for a scary story, and so I made BARGE, which you can read for free here:
