I am working on a couple of stories. One is called 'The Underbelly,' which is a darkly-comic, horror with themes of bullying and workplace toxicity, Here is a short synopsis;
On Harry Renard's fifty-fifth Birthday he awakes to find that his face has been encased in a black cloud, which he thinks is odd because it had not been there the night before. On inspecting this strange phenomenon, Harry realises that his face is completely obscured from the outside. Worried that he will be late for work again and his bullying, manipulative and juvenile boss Tarquin Stark will finally have a reason to dismiss him. On arriving at the office Harry is surprised to find the cloud has expanded to engulf his whole head, but why does no one else in the office seem to notice?
The second is very different in tone and is a YA novel called 'Snapdragon's Academy, of Spelling, Sorcery, Alchemy and Algebra' which is a story about a school for fledgling witches and wizards.

Buried deep, drugged, flogged, thrown unconscious into this vault, in a tumult of great unrest, and when I finally awoke I found a raven perched heavy on my breast, watching me with scathing jest in its’ bulbous moon eye, and judging me seemed to be its’ masters main request.
This scornful soul a guest in my mournful chamber where, bare lies bring to bear bloodshed, ensuing my downfall and undoing, and a solitary red rose is all that blooms here and sheds a single petal for my ruin.
