Acquire A Lot
I can’t move, breathe, speak or hear and it’s so dark all the time. If I knew it would be this lonely, I would have been cremated instead. —
Acquire A Lot
After some consideration I would pick the fictional world depicted by Eclipse Phase assuming I wouldn’t arrive in an immediately hostile area, this is a world written for a tabletop RPG. There are several reasons I would pick this.
1) I would be able to swap to a new body at some point, or rent out my current body, crap as it is, and live as an infomorph (pure information/data). I wouldn’t get much for renting my body, and pretty much only to those that haven’t been able to have a body for a while as mine has genetic defects. Or maybe I wouldn’t, due to #2.
2) Getting a new body wouldn’t be hard, it would just take time. It depends on where I am when I arrive just how I would need to go about doing that. Simply from my arrival from a different universe, which is how this would have to appear, I would get some celebrity status. Given that they have science in advance of ours, they might be able to work out however I managed to do this unless it was from something completely unique like a wish somehow coming true.
3) The scientific advances. Mind uploading and changing over to a new body is a thing in this world, a very very big thing, and is available to pretty much anyone with the cost not being hideously high. Medicine is highly advanced compared to how we are now and I likely would be able to get most of my current problems fixed in short order. Recursive AI seems to have been a bad mistake in this world, it’s why Earth is uninhabitable.
