I usually deal with writer's block by taking a break from writing. I usually have several projects that I work on at once such as currently I am working on expanding the garden, digging a root cellar, relearning advanced algebra with my older children, and picking up legos. When I get frustrated and stuck, I simply walk away, busy myself with something else and then when the time is right, I begin once again. This sporadic way of dealing with various projects seems to work for me and gives me a bit of inspiration as well.

I live in the remote mountains of West Virginia. I was not born and raised where we currently live. For the past fifteen years every time something interesting, amazing or just crazy happens, I look over at my husband and tell him, "I really need to write a book about this place because no one would ever believe it." And, now, I am; I am documenting rural mountain life and all that it has to offer.

Life is amazingly fun and interesting. I find my inspiration in my children, working on the homestead, through friendships and just every day life. Enjoy life and try to share it with others; this is how I intend to write.

I am currently working on the sequel to The Circle. I am also working on my second middle grade fictional work to follow up on Sauropod Summer.

An aspiring writer needs to remember that not everyone is going to love your work and that is completely okay; because there will always be people who do. Secondly, an aspiring writer needs to never give up. It is important to believe in yourself and understand that hard work will pay off.

I think the best thing about being an author is making new friends through storytelling. It is exciting when someone comes up to you and tells you how your book touched them in a positive way and you can connect with a person through storytelling. It really is one of the best feelings in the world.
