Once, about 3 in the morning, I heard footsteps in my kitchen while I was in my room. I was the only person awake, so I assumed it was my dad, who works nights and sometimes gets in early in the morning. However, the next morning, some food went missing from our fridge and my dad said he didn't get home until 5 am. No one ever knew what happened to the food or why I heard footsteps, but I always thought it could be an interesting base for a funny mystery story XD
Another mystery was the death of a family member. He was found dead on his farm with an injury to his head. The police said it looked like a murder, but a murderer was never found. . .

I was watching a skit based off of the Antique Roadshow series, where people take in old items and ask an antique specialist to estimate it's worth. I began to wonder what it would be like if a young girl brought in a magical item, and from there, Smoke and Mirrors came to life XD I'd have to say "what if" questions are 90% of what inspire my books haha.
