Deb Burton Since I work full time at a demanding job, my writing comes in snippets. An hour here or two hours there. Admittedly sleep deprivation plays a part in how creative I am during any moment I have to write. Sometimes the juices just aren't flowing. If it truly is due to fatigue, I have to give myself permission to catch up on rest before tackling more writing. If I just feel like I'm spinning my wheels or veering onto a tangent that is irrelevant to what I'm really wanting to say, I have been known to stop, pace my living room in prayer, and open myself to God's leading. It's worked on several occasions.
Deb Burton During a fall 2019 visit to my parents' home, my Mom and Dad shared stories from their childhoods and early married life. Some of them I'd heard before, but for whatever reason, maybe because I had just turned sixty, I had a clarity about how important it was to write their stories down. I had intended to keep the book short, but as I interviewed my folks the richness of their history and experiences became evident. I became their storyteller. In turn, I gained inspiration and admiration. My Mom and Dad are really interesting people!
